OO2: Rambling (O1) — Backrooms
HMM. Been a moment, huh? I wish I could update this more but honestly, I haven't had such to say.
Oh, right that Backrooms movie came out. You know I was never much a fan of kanepixels interpretation—now don't misread here, I don't *dislike * it. However, as someone who had quite the fixation on the original fan-spurred backrooms interpretation, I struggle to truly enjoy kanepixel's as I had the original. Though, again, I do not wish to disparage the newer version. I love some pieces, but the primariy reason I had adored the backrooms previously was the uncertainity of it all.
Levels were nonsensical, liminal in some cases. And with it sheerly being comprised of photos (for the most part) you're left to imagine what the space would be like, instead of having it told to you like the movie and videos do. Imgination is your best tool when depicting thriller and horror, and now, Kanepixels backroom's absolutely still harnesses this fact, it falls a bit short of the original idea.
But, maybe, it isn't quite fair to compare the original text/photo based depiction with a video/feature film depiction. Of course they would have to use alternative tactics to convey the same feelings.
This was all written without having watched the movie to be clear, HOWEVER, I am going to see it soon. I will certainly make a reprise on these thoughts after the fact.
